MY REVIEW:

“Push your boundaries, that’s what they’re there for.”

Oh stars. I give this book an awesome 4.5 stars.  I’m overwhelmed after reading this book. I ADORE THIS BOOK SO MUCH ALSO BECAUSE OF ITS LOVE FOR POETRY. I LOVE POETRY AND I LOVE HOW THE MAIN CHARACTERS USE POETRY TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES.

I like all the characters especially Will, Lake, Kel, Caulder, Eddie and gosh Gavin, he’s so poetic. Everyone even the mom. Lake’s mom is so cool and she gives the best mom’s advice.  All characters are special, relatable and unforgettable that you’ll never get tired of reading.

I also liked the romance between Will and Lake, it’s balanced and true. Their chemistry is undeniably swoon-worthy.  Though I have to agree that the problem they faced was uhm pretty much easy to solve. They just have to talk and work it out instead of misleading each other and ignoring each other.

“So you keep your ocean, I’ll take the Lake.”

Will is really an ideal fictional boyfriend. He’s responsible and sweet and he knows how to move a woman’s heart. He ca surely take care of you and treat you well. And he is so into poetry! Isn’t that sweet? He’ll take you on a club date, but that club is a poetry club. *screams ahhhh*

I wish club N9ne exists in real life. I want to slam all my emotions.

This book gave me lots of feels and I’ve learned a lot.

Because of this, I made my own slam poetry towards my thoughts after reading this book. This isn’t much of an awesome slam poetry that rhymes at every line, but I gave it a try.

“This Poem Has no Title Oxymoronically Speaking.”

Some may argue that this story isn’t much developed.
That the problems weren’t much deep.

People like depths. I do not know why.
People like the only things that make sense.
And they detest the things that don’t make sense to them.
They reject small talks. They disdain things that don’t have impact to them.

They fail to see the beauty a certain thing held.
Because they are too consumed in their own box.
They close their doors even before looking who’s knocking.
They don’t give things a chance. A chance to say hello.
A chance to see the light.

People like depths. I do not know why.
People like the only things that make sense.
And they detest the things that don’t make sense to them.
They reject small talks. They disdain things that don’t have impact to them.

But let me tell you, this book teaches us about poetry.
The poetry that people hate.
Because they think that they are depressed words from sad authors.

But this book teaches us how poetry can give color to ones life.

Poetry is limitless. And never ends. It goes on.
Poetry is endless. Poetry is forever.

Even you aren’t feeling the same feeling you had when you first wrote your piece,
One way or another, like what Will said,
Some other person might be feeling that same feeling you have felt at that moment.

And through poetry, you can help them. You can make them feel that they are not alone feeling this feeling. You can heal them.

People like depths. I do not know why.
People like the only things that make sense.
And they detest the things that don’t make sense to them.
They reject small talks. They disdain things that don’t have impact to them.

But let me tell you, this book teaches us about
balance,
that we have lots of things going in our lives and we don’t know what to put the first, the second or the third, but that’s okay.

Breathe and start again.
Balance everything.
Balance your priorities.

Lake’s mom was right,

Balance your head and your heart.

But never forget to put emphasis on life.

The only life you’ll ever have.

You can’t miss out life because of the demands of the society or the complexities of the situation we’re in.

Life wants you to fight your circumstances. Life wants you to be the leader of your own team, pilot of you own plane and the captain of your own ship.

This is your life. You have a choice. YOU always have even if you feel like you don’t.

THE END
In this book I’ve learned that a poetry doesn’t have to rhyme for it to become a poetry. As long it can move people and as long as you pour out your words sincerely, it can also be called a  SLAMMED POETRY

Looking forward to read POINT OF RETREAT.
Colleen Hoover THANK YOU.
